Health Center Staff
Medical Director Elizabeth Feldman, MD, is a co-founder of the Health Center and has been its Medical Director since its opening in 1996. Liz has been a family physician for over 25 years and is Board certified in family medicine and adolescent medicine. (Dr. Feldman is at the Health Center Tuesday mornings.) Nurse Practitioners - Nurse pracitioners provide primary and preventive medical care. An NP is at Amunden Monday-Friday. All 3 NPs split their time between Amundsen and Lake View Health Centers. Cecilia Ackmann, APN, CNP, began working at the Health Center in 2007. She has been a nurse practitioner since for over years. (Cecilia works at Amundsen on Tuesdays.) Susan Kurtenbach, APN, CNP, has worked at Amundsen Health Center since it opened in 1996. She likes to focus on working with students on issues of quitting smoking and substance abuse, as well as nutrition and fitness. (Susan works Mondays and Wednesdays at Amundsen.) Kelly Vaez, APN, CNP, has been with the Health Center since 2008. Before becoming an NP, Kelly worked as a registered nurse for 7 years. (Kelly works at Amundsen on Thursdays and Fridays.) Clinical Psychologists - Both psychologists provide individual, group, and family therapy. They also work with student programs in the school. Mark Merten, PsyD, has been a clinical psychologist at the Health Center since it opened in 1996. Mark currently collaborates with the junior IB art students and the youth outreach program. (Mark is typically at the Health Center Monday-Friday.) Martha Christensen, PsyD, joined the Health Center staff in 2005. She also works with the junior IB art students. Martha splits her time between Amundsen and Lake View Health Centers. (Martha works Wednesdays and Thursdays at Amundsen.) Health Educators - The health educators partner with teachers to give workshops in classes. They also are available for students who want to discuss health questions or concerns individually. Dina Robinson, CMA, has been at Amundsen for over 5 years. She is also a Medical Assistant. Dina splits her time between Amundsen and Lake View Health Centers. Dina runs an afterschool group called Sister 2 Sister. All girls are welcome! (Dina works Wednesdays through Fridays at Amundsen.) Jeanine Menczywor, MPH, CHES, has joined the Health Center in 2005. She is also the site supervisor. Jeanine works with students to create personal eating and fitness plans and also helps students who are interested in a health-related career explore their options. (Jeanine is at the Health Center Monday-Friday.) Secretary Mandy Gonzalez has been the secretary since 2003. Mandy is usually the first and last Health Center staff person students see when they visit. Students who need to schedule an appointment or learn more about the Health Center talk to Mandy. (Mandy is at the Health Center Monday-Friday.) We also have on our staff a sports medicine physician and a physical therapist who both work on Wednesday mornings. In addition, we train several students a year, including psychology externs, family practice resident physicians, and nurse practitioner students.
