Laura Frcka, Mathematics Instructor

I teach Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry and IB Math Applications and Interpretation I. As the course team lead for Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry, I focus on increasing the depths of knowledge through the use of the Standards of Mathematical Practice. I was also a Google Certified Educator for Level 1 and Level 2 and a Change Champion for ASPEN system. This is my 19th year of teaching!
 
I am certified to teach high school mathematics, English as a Second Language and middle school mathematics. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English as an International Language. I joined the Chicago Teaching Fellowship and received a master degree from National-Louis University. I am also a proud member of the MSU-Wipro STEM and Leadership Fellowship Cohort 2.
 
This fall, my oldest is starting 5th grade, my second child starts 3rd grade, and my youngest starts Pre-K4. Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy being outside in my garden. I have the true honor of receiving the Jordnt Joy of Teaching Award in May 2020.
