Greetings Vikings!

 

I spent most of my teaching career as a learning and behavior specialist and English teacher.  I earned my initial bachelor's degree from Saint Louis University in communication sciences and disorders and my initial master's degree in special education from Lewis University.  After being accepted to the Chicago Teacher Residency Program, I studied urban education and earned a second master's degree from National Louis University.  I subsequently took my first job in Chicago Public Schools 12 years ago.  After a few years in the classroom, I received a scholarship to study special education teacher leadership at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Eager to become a teacher leader, I began looking for a school where I could better grow professionally, and I was welcomed to the Amundsen community 6 years ago.  I served as the Diverse Learner Department Chairperson for 4 years; I hope to continue to build on transition initiatives such as Career Day through my work with the Post Secondary Leadership Team to help guide students in their post- secondary endeavors.  I also enjoy working as a leader of the Culture and Equity team and the AAPI Club to help bolster Amundsen's cultural celebrations and encourage more inclusive practices among the school community.

 

This school year will be my third year as case manager.  I am working alongside Kate Johnson in supporting the needs of diverse learners including supporting students who are in need of homebound or hospitalization services.  In addition to being the main contact for students with 504s, I will continue to guide teachers to help support diverse learners in co-taught instruction and transition supports.
