Transitional English IV is new to Amundsen and part of the Skyline curriculum. This course asks students to explore how a diverse array of authors craft their stories in order share important aspects of their identity. They will apply these skills to develop their personal narratives which can also be used for college applications. Additionally, they will analyze current novels and plays as they explore the question "Why is it important to share our stories?".
Students will also build research skills: developing a line of inquiry, finding reliable resources, supporting their claims with reliable resources, and designing a clear and well-organized line of argument. Students will present their research using a variety of media platforms so that they are prepared for tech-forward industries and careers.
By the end of this course, we want all of our students to successfully navigate information dense environments, independently develop their perspectives, and confidently communicate those perspectives in an organized and engaging manner.
I want to ensure that all of my students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. I will do my part in helping students achieve their potential by: updating Google Classroom, responding promptly to emails, providing encouraging and constructive feedback, chances to show growth, and creating a safe space for all students to engage in meaningful conversations.
If you have any concerns regarding the class, student success, or personal matters that may be affecting your (or your student's) ability to succeed, please contact me via email at [email protected].
