Tristan Arnold
2024-2025 is my third year at Amundsen, and my nineteenth year teaching orchestra. Prior to joining the Vikings, I taught and conducted at a variety of schools and orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area including the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts and the Napa Valley Youth Symphony.
While in San Francisco I received a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from San Francisco State University and certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In addition to teaching and conducting, I played upright and electric bass in a variety of roles, from a bluegrass band to an orchestra tour of China to a cruise ship in Alaska.
I love connecting students with the music that I love, and connecting with students through their musical preferences. I love teaching music because I have the opportunity to teach math, physics, history, anthropology, sociology and so much more. Music study empowers students to connect on an emotional level with one another and musicians throughout the world and throughout history.
