Welcome Viking students and parents!

My name is Mike Masters. It is my third year here at Amundsen High School, but my 10th year as a teacher. I started my teaching career in New York City after completing the New York City Teaching Fellows program. I taught in New York City Public Schools for 5 years before moving to Illinois. Before starting at Amundsen, I taught downstate at Rantoul Township High School for 2 years then transitioned into working in Higher Education at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and Northwestern University. I am excited to bring my experiences from these different schools and universities into helping develop your student during their time at Amundsen. 

This year I will be co-teaching English 1 and English 4 with Ms. Rymut and Ms. Morgeson. If you have not already joined our Google Classroom as a parent/guardian, please do so to receive the most up-to-date information on your student's education. 

I also serve at the Head Coach for the Boys Golf Team and the Girls Badminton Team. Please reach out to me if your student is interested in playing and has questions.
