Join Friends of Amundsen on Wednesday, October 18, at 6:00pm at Amundsen for an important session for parents and students to attend together. Participants will leave with new and accurate information about substance use and a better ability to talk about this topic as a family.

Parents, mark your calendars for the first Amundsen Parent Series session of the school year, "A Conversation About College Application Essays," Monday, September 18, 6:30-7:30pm at Amundsen, Room 118. Presenter Amy F. Williamson brings a decade of experience teaching high school seniors how best to tell their own unique stories in college application essays.

Show our Viking seniors some love by donating to Friends of Amundsen’s end-of-year fundraising campaign benefiting the Class of 2023. The funds raised in this third annual campaign will help cover Prom and Graduation Fees to ensure that every Amundsen senior can participate in these milestone celebrations.


The goal is to raise $5,000 by Friday, May 26. Participating in this fundraiser is an easy and direct way to support the Class of 2023 as their time at Amundsen comes to a close. Donate at the level of your choice and make your mark for our Viking seniors. Thank you for your generosity.

Back to school means the Back to School Boost, Friends of Amundsen’s 6th annual back-to-school fundraising campaign supporting an important Amundsen initiative.

This year’s Back to School Boost is the most critical Boost campaign to date.

Amundsen is facing a budget deficit due to a combination of budget cuts (explained in Principal Eilers’ May 2023 email to parents) and the increasing expense of running the school. Simply put, the money allocated by CPS is not enough to cover the cost of classroom and school-wide resources. Now more than ever, we’re relying on the support of our community to ensure that our students continue to receive the quality education they deserve.

Your contribution will play a vital role in offsetting the cost of school operations and maintaining the smooth functioning of our educational programs. Boost donations will be allocated to critical areas such as instructional materials, student transportation, software, technology equipment, office supplies, and more.

The 2023 Boost goal is to raise $50,000 by September 30. This amount will not fully bridge Amundsen’s 2023-24 budget deficit, but it will significantly address the school’s most important operational and educational needs. Every contribution—large and small—will help us reach this ambitious, yet achievable fundraising goal.
