Amundsen's String Ambassadors, under the direction of AHS Orchestra teacher, Mr. Sean Reidy, recently helped to launch yet another orchestra mentoring program at McPherson Elementary School. This partnership builds on an existing partnership with Chappell Elementary, where an autonomous group of of 12 Viking String Ambassadors regularly teaches strings to Chappell students. We appreciate the support of A440 Violins, the Friends of McPherson, the Friends of Amundsen, the Nagaunee Institute, and the Civic Orchestra of the CSO, for their support of the neighborhood school music programs that make these partnerships possible.

Parents, join Amundsen's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Tuesday, May 10, for “How to talk with your children about money,” presented by Rebecca Maxcy, Director and Principal Investigator at the University of Chicago Financial Education Initiative. Show our Viking seniors some love by donating to FOA’s end-of-year fundraising campaign benefiting the Class of 2022. The funds raised will help cover Prom and Graduation Fees to ensure that every Amundsen senior can participate in these milestone celebrations. The goal is to raise $5,000 by Monday, May 16. Mark your calendars for the second annual Friends of Amundsen end-of-year block party, Friday, June 10, 4-7pm, in the Amundsen backlot.

The Amundsen Local School Council election will be held this Thursday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. Voting will take place in the school library at 5110 N. Damen.
