Please join “A Conversation Among Parents About Teen Mental Health” on Thursday, October 27, 6:30-8:00pm, in-person at Amundsen. All Amundsen parents and guardians are welcome; no registration or RSVP needed.

This is the first activity of the school year hosted by the AHS Mental Health Awareness Initiative (AMHAI). The AMHAI was started in spring 2022 by Amundsen parents and staff as a way to bring attention to and help support the unprecedented mental health challenges facing our school community in the wake of the pandemic.

The Viking Theatre Company is selling shirts and hoodies to replace the lighting system in the Amundsen auditorium. For every 100 items sold, AHS can replace 1 of the auditorium lights. The logo was designed by an Amundsen student. Orders are due by Saturday, November 12 and shirts should arrive to school before Thanksgiving. Email Ms. Bean ([email protected]) with any questions. Viking Theatre Company presents our fall play on November 11 (4pm) and 12 (1pm and 6pm). Set in the 1950s, a 19-year-old has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. The jury room gets personal with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes!

On field recognition of all Alumni attending game will take place at Half-Time.
A Viking Social (adults only) will follow the game at Claddagh Ring Pub at 2306 W. Foster Ave. 6:30-8:30pm. Tickets for Viking Social can be purchased at the link.

The Long Room is donating 20% of bar sales from this Viking Village event back to Friends of Amundsen.

Parents, join Amundsen's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Wednesday, October 19, at 6pm, for “Navigating College Testing,” a virtual session presented by Joy Mollet of BEC Tutoring. Joy has been helping Chicago families navigate the college admissions process since 2014. Registration is required for this session. Register by clicking on the link above.

Parents, join Amundsen's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Wednesday, November 2, at 6pm, for “Engaged and Empowered Parenting,” presented by Ted Neitzke, a motivational keynote speaker with decades of experience as an educator. Ted’s presentation last February was a highlight of the 2021-22 Parent Series, and we’re excited to welcome him back for this in-person event at Amundsen.

We would like to share with our community that the Amundsen Local School Council has two open positions, one for a community representative and another for a parent representative. If you are interested in filling one of these positions, please come to the next LSC meeting, September 29th, at 5pm at Amundsen HS. Back to school means the Back to School Boost! This year, join FOA in saying YES WAY to the VIKING WAY as we raise money to renew and reenergize the core AHS values: Accountable. Honorable.
