Because we wanted to honor each and every question asked, you may find some repetition in both questions and answers.

The Viking Acadec Team finished the season strong winning 3rd place at State. The Illinois State Academic Decathlon Competition at Northeastern University on March 14th was cancelled due the covid-19 pandemic and replaced with an abbreviated online version. The 2020 Team was extremely consistent placing 3rd at Regional, City and State. A big shout out to Isaac E. for winning Silver in Econ-Honors and Jennifer P. for winner Silver in Math-Scholastic. Our dedicated decathletes are: Isaac E., Oswaldo R., Deen S., Jennifer P., Valeria R., Rodrigo A. Annie R., Jackson F., Julian S., and Caleb K. Go Vikings!!!

Congratulations to the Amundsen Acadec Team on advancing to state for the 3rd consecutive year by placing 3rd overall at the CPS City Championship on Saturday. Individual medalists include Isaac E., Oswaldo R., Deen S., Annie R., Jackson F., and Julian S. The Decathletes are optimistic about bringing Amundsen a state level trophy at the Illinois State Acadec Competition on March 14th. Congratulations to all and Goooo Vikings!!!

The Amundsen Japanese Bowl Team of Matthew B., Sebastian B., and Carmen G., placed 3rd overall at the Illinois Japanese Bowl this past weekend. In only the 2nd year of the school's Japanese program, Amundsen's team finished ahead of every other public school in its first year of competition. Congratulations to all of the students and a special shout out to Ms. Kameyama for this excellent performance!

We are happy to announce that, for the third year in a row, Amundsen High School has been rated a Level 1+ high school by the Chicago Public Schools. Amundsen is one of only a small number of neighborhood high schools to have achieved this rating, and the only one to have achieved it after being in a probationary status. We are so very proud of our students, and we thank and congratulate all of the members of the Amundsen family who have contributed to this achievement. Thank you to everyone in the Amundsen community who supported this year's FOA Back to School Boost. This years Back To School Boost saw an increase of over 30% over last year with a total of $3755. This was a “give the sake of giving” capital campaign and the Friends of Amundsen are so very grateful to those who donated.
